Team RISE group runs begin Saturday

Team RISE Group runs begin this Saturday Do you run or would you like to run? You can fight injustice, help educate kids in Angola and make a tangible difference! Runners can participate in the Rock ‘n’ Roll or Chicago Half Marathon /5K, the Chicago Marathon or any race of your choice. Group training runs begin this Saturday, 6:30 am at Tower Road just east of the Edens Expressway in Winnetka. Join Team RISE and bring a friend.

Registration Update from Bank of America:

“Registration for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been postponed until March 19 at 12 p.m. Central Time to finalize a routine yet comprehensive assessment of our new registration process. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we aim to ensure a seamless registration experience for all who wish to register for the event. The guaranteed entry and lottery entry deadline of April 7 at 12 p.m. remains unchanged.”

Interact with Africa Club at Wheeling

Wheeling HS Interact Club

Students and members of Interact with Africa at Wheeling High School were joined by Elvis and Ermina Huambo, visiting from Benguela, Angola and sharing their story. The club sold hot chocolate and donuts to raise money to educate kids in Angola!

WeGo 2 Africa

WeGo 2 Africa Club
It is WeGo 2 Africa week at Community High School in West Chicago. They are selling Gorilla grams for $1 and t-shirts. Tiny Tim’s “Tip Toe Through the Tulips” plays over and over in the hallways during passing periods until $200 is collected to “Change the Music” and change lives in Angola.

Caplow Children’s Prize finalists

The Caplow Children’s Prize finalists were announced today – RISE is one of eight!

School #150 Approved!

School #150 was approved and will be built at the village of Jimba in the Bie Province, a few kilometers outside of Kuito. The children will have an 8 classroom school as a result of the combined efforts of Team RISE 2013, students at LMU, our 2013 benefit and a generous matching donor!
