Macala school

The need for schools and infrastructure in the Namibe Province is significant. The Municipal Administration of Moçâmedes, concerned about the education of children in their neighborhoods, requested that RISE build a school at Macala, a windy desert location. The Administration committed property for the construction of the school. Some children attend class in tin “chapa” rooms, which were recently hit by strong winds, making a harsh situation worse – the children continue to suffer, and are excited to know they will have real classrooms!

In 2022, RISE submitted a proposal for funding to Esso Angola which was approved in 2023, and RISE raised the balance of funding needed for the 7-classroom school. The community, families, students, Administration and Ministry of Education officials, and RISE Angola came together on August 17th to celebrate the laying of the first stone. Construction is underway as all look forward the difference a school, safety, and protection, will make for the education of the children.
