Canjala school

Canjala is a communal area on the road to Luanda, in the Benguela Province. There are hundreds of kids schooling under trees, and some in a dilapidated mud structure… when there is rain, wind, or cold, students go home. The local Administrator approached RISE requesting that we partner to build a 7-classroom school and sports court to begin to meet the need in the area. The commitment was to begin, though full funding was not yet secured. The site was cleared, and construction began, while funds for the project continued to be raised. The school was completed, though all committed funding from the government has not been received. The school was handed over to the community and local government, and the classrooms are being used! Visiting on 3/25/25, we found the school to be solid and beautiful, and the children and teachers are grateful!
