overview
Azule Energy funded the school and RISE Angola implemented construction. The objective is to promote inclusion and equitable access to quality education for school-age children in the Municipality of Moçâmedes. Construction on a modern and well-equipped primary school with 12 classrooms was completed, and dedicated on December 9th, 2025. A large delegation from Luanda including the Minister of Oil and the Minister of Education, the Provincial Governor, ANPG, Azule’s President and representatives, RISE Angola, teachers, parents, and students all joined in the wonderful celebration. The school was named after Francisco Pacheco, Secretary of State for Preschool and Primary Education, who attended as well. Approximately 1000 students will attend in 2 shifts, and children, teachers and staff, as well as families and the local community will benefit and are very grateful.
A mural was painted on the school in honor of the Welwitschia Mirabillis plant, only found in southern Angola and Namibia in the Namib desert, one of the driest places on earth. Some live between 1000 and 1500 years, and produce only two leaves which continue to grow along the ground.
