Piloto is a neighborhood in the town of Kuito in central Angola. Kuito was devastated during 27 years of civil war, and in the aftermath people have suffered without access to education, clean water, and healthcare. There has been a focused effort to rebuild since 2002, along with significant population growth and urban poverty and hardship.
The Kuito Administration has partnered with RISE to build schools in the area. This 10-classroom school was dedicated on January 30 with great joy and gratitude, in honor of the opening of the 2020 school year. The inauguration of Piloto was wonderfully celebrated with officials from Luanda, the Governor of Bie, Kuito Administrators and Ministry of Education officials, ExxonMobil, RISE, teachers, community members, and students.
A well, funded by Willow North Shore in the US, was drilled at the site to provide access to clean water.
