Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2009 Of the 45,000 registered runners in the 2009 Chicago Marathon, 8,400 people were running for a charity, for a bigger cause! There were 14,000 new runners to the Marathon and 12,000 volunteers. 24 Team RISE runners had a big goal of raising $80,000 to build a school, and actually enough was donated to build two, one U-shape for 800 children and an L-shape for another 500. The schools were built at Kaila in the Huila Privince, a place where there has never been a school. This effort has impacted 1300 kids and their families immediately, and many more for years to come! |
